Insta update - Hawthorne gets older, I do some Christmas sewing/shopping etc
Considering all of this is on instagram, I feel a bit lame updating this way. But the world needs more Hawthorne baby pics. So here we go
Handsome Hawthorne is about 5 months old now and looking handsomer every day. Such a charmer that guy. I swear all of us girls up in here start squealing like he's Justin Timberlake every time we catch a glimpse of him. Someday, sir, you will have to learn humility. Until then, bask in the glory of two sisters and a crazy mom.
Clover got into the spirit of Christmas with her bubble Santa beard. So, we already told our kids that Santa is a fun, fictional Christmas character based on a real guy who's dead, but they think he's fun anyway. Clover is very literal, and I know she would be seriously confused/disappointed to find that we'd mislead her on the santa thing. Violet has apparently chosen to believe Santa is real anyway, so there you go. Each kid is SO DIFFERENT.
Speaking of Violet, she still is very taken with her brother. Not pictured is the frame where she sucked on his nose. In a somewhat related topic: in a bout of extreme affection, Violet bit her brother's nose this week. No joke. She was actually being affectionate, and bit her brother's nose. *sigh*......He still seems to think she's super amusing and great, despite the lingering red markings on his poor sweet little nose.
While cleaning the kitchen, which feels like 80% of my activity sometimes, I witnessed this Fisher Price van of awesomeness roll in. Big Bird was apparently being held hostage in the back by Boba Fett.
My kids have matching crazy Christmas pants. If you haven't checked out the Dear Stella - Take a Hike line of prints.....do so. They're so great. I made both kids harem style pants in their flannel, which Violet keeps rubbing and saying is soft. I'm in love with the Dear Stella confetti sparkles. Especially the gold dot. Can't get enough of gold lately. My friend Kristin made her daughter a Christmas dress that I'm totally wishing I could copy. Not gonna lie. I toured Joanns today trying to find something that brought the magic Stella dot feeling to me, but it didn't happen.
There was a specific Christmas shopping item that had to be crossed off my list at Reston town center, an open air plaza type shopping mall for Google employees and young, childless cool people. So ...... I was totally fitting in with awesome sauce there. Right.
I took my three kids there by myself to retrieve this Christmas thing, and we took in their hugely ginormous tree while we were there. This was about the only time my kids decided to head out on their own. Most of the time was spent with me lugging Hawthorne in the Boba baby carrier, Violet on my back like a koala, and Clover in the stroller meant to contain Violet the destroyer in the stores.
Meanwhile, this guy has been smiling big huge gummy smiles every chance he gets.
And I've been getting small spurts of Christmas sewing for the girls in at night while my man is either putting the kids down to bed without me, or enjoying some time with ye olde playstation 3. This tulle + my lame backup machine + a crucially bent needle had me more than a little irritated tonight.
You are so right, the world needs more handsome Hawthorne pictures! Because they make you happy and smile! At the rest of your post I laughed so hard I dropped my mobile.... I hope you are making yourself and your husband those pants, too, they are very cool! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Ute
ReplyDeleteI mean really, he is so cute. It's not just you thinking that as his mama - I'd snuggle him all day long too!! Good luck with the rest of it. :/
