mailbox surpriseIf you've been following along with the Mailbox surprise intrigue, you'll know that I was waiting on something mysterious to arrive.....

My first two posts about it are here:

Check it out! Special delivery from New Zealand. Constanca, who blogs at Saidos da Concha sent me a great package of goodies from the land of Hobbits. I kind of opened it before we got inside the house....

Included was some great blue and white checked fabric with a nice soft hand (I'm seeing Hawthorne in this?? A little button down shirt?). Also in the package was this amazing vintage stitch primer.

It belonged to a school way back in the 40's!

It's also designed to teach children, which, sadly, is what I need when it comes to embroidery.

She also included a bag of vintage notions! Buttons of a pretty faded yellow, ric-rac (which looks like ketchup and mustard side by side - ha!), that majorly cool ribbon at the top left, and chocolate!

Once the Christmas lunacy dies down I'll start dreaming up a use for my fabric, and share my creation with you then. Thank you, Constanca!

Is anyone else a deer in the headlights (reindeer in the christmas lights?) right now over how close Christmas is? I looked up at the "ain't no pinterest"advent calendar and realized how few envelopes were left. Once I counted days on my fingers, because, let's face it, math is NOT my strong point, I uttered a profanity and began a checklist of doom in my head.

I've spent a good chunk of the month working on a secret project, so now it's time to frantically amazon prime some gifts to family members and sew some kid gifts at night. Tutus, cape shirts, masks, and maaaaybe a quilt for Hawthorne with my Charley Harper fabric. Or maybe I'll just finally get to cleaning the bathrooms. Heh..... Don't judge me - I would TOTALLY do it now but I'm blogging with one hand while nursing.

  2. Glad you're not scrubbing the toilet with one hand while nursing. I've been ignoring my bathrooms too - but then, this week, my kids did this really neat trick where they overflowed the toilet, which seeped into the basement and onto a small collection of vintage leather and fur coats plus some unopened Amazon Prime boxes. Yup, just picture it. Anyway, I had to clean the bathroom then and the basement.
