Oliver and S art museum trousers - the first product to come from KCW fall. It might look like I got a lot done, but most of the work had been done already. Between Monday in tiny little stolen moments (ground to a halt by my sweet, needy three month old), and some time this morning while he napped, I finally got these things done.
Sewn up in a 6-12 month size with 2T length for my three year old, they fit great. I used her measurements to choose the size. My child's waist is two inches smaller than the 6 month size. How is that even possible?
I skinnied the legs, tapering the pattern to what looked good to my untrained eye. And I've had this image of slanted knee pads on jeans for a while, so I added that in there too.
Check out the beautiful welt pocket on the back there. Makes me so happy! The instructions in the pattern are awesome and I had no problems. Me - the sewing train wreck.
Fabrics used are old jeans, yellow linen, and art gallery fabric for the pockets that I won in a giveway. Art gallery is SO NICE. Soft and crisp all at the same time.
Violet is also rocking part of her halloween costume. A (not so liony) cowardly lion mane. Hopefully it will look more liony and less llama with the rest of her outfit.
My kids told me yesterday that it was time to bring out the "bone heads" so our skulls are floating around the house now.
Violet is crying and moaning loudly behind evil computer using mommy. Over and out.
The jeans do look great, Tara. And that hat is to die for!
ReplyDeletewow, love these jeans!! I've got some upcycled jeans on tap for my Violet too :) Also...I've got to get started on halloween costumes!! I have a bat girl and sabre toothed tiger i have to get together! That lion hat is FAB! but of course it is!
ReplyDeletethese are so awesome. don't those welt pockets make you feel all accomplished? and i can't believe she's in the 6-12 month size, what the heck?? can't wait to see the rest of that lion!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! Love the pop of yellow!
ReplyDeleteSo good! I love the old jeans use. I gave up using jeans for kidswear because I exploded my last sewing machine, but I was trying to resize them. So I SUPPOSE that just repurposing the actual fabric and the not the seams is a MUCH smarter idea!
