Sage shirt

My sister is expecting her first baby later this month. His name is Sage, so I thought it would be fun to make him a botanical name shirt. Baby on the way here happens to be a botanical little man too, so I think another version of this is percolating.

Swiped from the husband refuse pile, this fabric used to be a men's olive colored Gap shirt. Nice and soft.

Pattern is the Figgy's Banyan boy's tee in 18 months, but it looks pretty huge for an 18 month old. Maybe when he's three....haha. My sister is about 5 feet tall so there's a chance this baby won't be a giant.

(Sewn gift fail: I noticed after uploading pictures that I never sprayed the blue fabric marker away in a few spots. Oh well. It'll come out in the wash)

I added a contrast patch pocket from my scraps of awesome bamboo fabric, and stenciled the lettering and chevrons in with fabric paint.

Violet was pretty sunk over this shirt not being for her. She's taken a liking to this whole custom clothes from mom thing. Her latest fixation: a black shirt with a black lego minifig (which she calls an "Omi")with a black head and black hands and black legs. The impracticality of black on black fails to impress her. We'll see what happens with the sacrificial black shirt I thrifted yesterday

  2. I love this, might be my plant loving side coming out, but its making me want to rename all my kidlets plant names, just so I can make them shirts like this one ;)
