Clover is a tough customer. When I had finally given up hope for even photographing this and including it in my kids clothes week items, Violet brought it to me and asked to wear it. Masking my enthusiasm lest I ruin the moment, I quickly got it on her and took a few pictures. She ditched it about 5 minutes later.
Clover says that it's not pretty. She doesn't like the strap either. I beg to differ. That chartreuse is the most perfect chartreuse ever made into a rib knit. It was meant to go with her new Briar Rose skirt, which is the last item to be photographed and blogged for my kids clothes week collection.
Cream colored organic knit from fabric.com and some ribbing with incredible drape and stretch recovery from Finch Sewing Studio
make up this halter, which I fudged my own pattern for out of the flashback skinny tee pattern. It's got a flared shape and a low rounded back hem.
I've used the FBST so many times with various forms of tinkering, I wouldn't be surprised if I try making pants out of it at some point.
That FACE. I want to eat those serious little cheeks. Don't grow up, please, little person.
There's this obsession I have with seeing my kid's little backs. Any chance I get, those backs are out in the open. Don't worry. When the weather turns cold I'll just switch over to making them wear cute hats for my joy.
:) that's it...this post just made me smile...the shirt is pretty sweet too! :) You are one awesome mama sewing all of this stuff up just before baby arrives! Someday you will tell them this story...they will likely think you are crazy...but that's totally cool...b/c you will all have a laugh! I've loved and been so impressed by all of your sewing this week...but now I just can't wait to hear about the arrival of baby! :)
ReplyDeleteand you weren't going to do kcw. pshaw.
ReplyDeleteWha?! How could they not like it?! crazy talk. I love the chartreuse ribbing paired with the cream and the halter... OH THE HALTER!!! If you ever wanna get rid of it, I know a kid who'd want it! *wink*
ReplyDeletei think you were the most productive KCW sewer in the group! maybe KCW is the last thing you mentally needed before little guy comes...??? anyway, love this little halter, it's freakin adorable. Violet has chicken wings! :D
ReplyDeleteI absolutely couldn't love this more and I have to agree with Kristin, your output and quality was amaze in the KCW. But now you got me dreaming of chartreuse ribbing...which I'll probably never find!
