things do happen here, despite my lack of blogging

First of all, I finished my rustling leaves beret for the luvinthemommyhood Downton knit along. It took three tries at blocking to get the fit to work, but now I love it.

We got snow, and of course needed to go play in it. Once I realized the kids had no mittens, I got out my Oliver + S little things to sew book and made them some before we went outside. It was crazy time in here. The kids were vibrating with energy to go out and didn't appreciate my not paying vigilant attention to them while I attempted to sew their mittens. They tortured me,  screamed, fought, ripped the thread out of my machine, took off with my pattern pieces, and caused general mass chaos until I half-assed the final details on Violet's mittens and opened the front doors like the gates of Noah's Ark.
"Omg, get out of here!" That's probably what he said.

They love their mittens, by the way.

Clover has been working on her writing. I found this awesome attempt at writing her name one day. Coco came out like "loco", which is just perfect.

I made pie. Then we had 70 degree weather and ate it outside in t-shirts

I got splashed on while trying to get some reading in that doesn't involve rhymes or baby bunnies.

We did sidewalk chalk in the rain and then watched it all float away from our window.

Daddy reading time

Violet decided to try her hand at shaving like daddy.

There are some projects I want to do. Skirts to make, for one. We're rapidly coming up on a trip we have planned to Oregon so I need to start focusing on getting ready for that too. And I've started knitting another hat as a gift, which needs to be done by the time we leave. It's the Intuitive, a free pattern I found on ravelry.

My littlest beast is overdue for a nap. If I don't get her down now, we will enter that no man's land of afternoon time where you don't want them to fall asleep anymore because they'll never go to bed (like, say, the night of the superbowl when I spent the entire first half trying to get her to bed, only to end up with her being awake till 11:30......and waking up at 5:30 the next day).

  2. It made me laugh thinking about the girls pulling the thread from the sewing machine! Little monkeys. The beret is fantastic :-)
