Kids Clothes Week // Day 2

kcwleggings3

Kids Clothes Week, day two was marginally more productive than day one.

Two pairs of leggings found their way into existence, and a third was imagined and abandoned because the intended recipient insisted she only wanted "plain black leggings with nothing on them". Well, she already owns two pairs of plain black leggings with nothing on them, and I sure as shite ain't spending KCW sewing time making another.

Unfortunately, she burst into tears when she realized I hadn't made anything for her....heartbreaking Violet style tears that cut straight to your heart. I guess she'll be getting some tomorrow.

That weird copper net thing hanging from my wall is a dish scrubber. When you roll it out it becomes this really pretty knitted metal fabric tube.

I don't want to go into super detail about these because they're actually for another post in another place on another day, but they're Oliver and S Playtime leggings in 6m and 2/4T

They're both done in black rayon knit, but Hawthorne's are made of two different kinds. I cut his out and sewed the stripe block to the bottom of both legs last night, and then realized this morning that I'd neglected to mirror the legs and had two of the same side. Whoops. Great start to KCW.

The reason I'd blocked them in the first place is that the shred of black fabric I was using wasn't long enough to get the whole leg cut out so I just attached a different fabric to the bottom of the legs to solve the problem. Frankenstyle. But then only one leg ended up being useable. You can't really tell that the legs are made out of different fabrics, but you kinda can. But anyone who is close enough to see that kid's leggings will not be scrutinizing the mismatched fabric on them. They'll be entranced in his total cuteness.

Clover's legs are totally bi-functional as sparkly everyday wear and superhero ready costumage. That's how we roll.

Hoping tomorrow brings some success as I wasn't able to find everything I wanted on my fabric run, and don't quite know what I'm doing next aside from some Violet leggings.

Over and out! It's beer o clock!

  1. Hi! You don't know me, but you seem fabulous, and I think we must run in the same online sewing crowd (or anyway, I run there when I am not being lame and not sewing). I added you as an instagram friend, but for some reason it feels less weird to say hi on a blog.

  2. Love all your KCW stuff this year! I'm so glad to see these leggings on real people. I was going to buy the pattern, but on the O+S site they looked like baggy trousers. Nice to see they actually fit. I imagine I'll be churning these out for my girls next fall until all my knits are gone. I should probably go buy more fabric...
