This tiny lady turned three.
She dresses herself now, if you couldn't tell. Not sure you could pack any more personality and gumption onto her small frame.
She requested a new Omi shirt (lego minifig for those not in the know) for her special day, and I delivered, albeit frantically and at the last second, this weird pocket shirt.
Violet is always carrying an Omi or five around with her, and the shirt needed a pocket for them. I also wanted a pouch pocket that opened at the top to minimize spillage. At some point while I stared at my sewing table in a daze, I envisioned this pocket. Not sure I love it, but it does the trick.
Fabrics are organic cream colored knit from fabric.com (so soft!!) and a citrus jersey from there as well. The citrus was previously seen in the butt of her zebra pants
Pattern is the Rae flashback skinny tee. I hereby commit to doing something else next time I sew a tee. I've become a broken record!
Sweet Violet had a good birthday. We stuck around home and had cake and gifts. This wonky Omi cake was obviously made by me. This makes her second birthday in a row with Lego themed stuff. She likes what she likes!
Looking at my funny cake sitting on an old baking tray in our undecorated living room for a party with just our family.....It makes me laugh at how far removed it all is from the gorgeous and well executed parties I see on some blogs. I'd blame it on the whole having a three week old thing, but I'm pretty sure I'm just bad at parties.
Looking at the picture below, you can also observe my amazing paint job finishing skills
Violet has an irrepressible joy, and low expectations for that matter, so she was happy with her birthday.
She thanked us for her gifts in that sweet little helium voice.
Seeing the changes in my little girl as she gets older is a delight, though realizing that her body has lost most of its round toddleryness pains my heart a bit. My baby! Transitioning into a family of five has been rough on both of us. She's always been my little kangaroo baby, happiest being nestled into me and toted around throughout the day. Too anxious to sleep without the comfort of mama to snuggle into.
The morning I went into labor, I had her in my arms in bed at 4 am. Through that first hour or two as I lay there holding her, each contraction bringing her brother closer and closer, I savored those last few moments of her still being my baby.
I think this fluffy girl had a good day. We wore her out anyway. The kid never naps! But she has discovered the joy of falling asleep on daddy ^_^
What a lovely little girl! The tee is fantastic, as usual :)
