little fancy pants

Kids Clothes Week, day one (for me...on a tuesday)

There's a sensible person in my head who said to me a couple of weeks ago: "Kids Clothes Week is about a week away from your due date. Don't even think about trying to poke your fat pregnant toe into the fun because you have other things to be doing."

The chorus of crazies in my head shouting "But everyone else is having FUN without us!!" must have been louder because KCW seems to have sucked me in. At least for today.

These are the fancy pants leggings from titchy threads sewn up in some zebra print thermal from Finch Sewing StudioViolet was a sweetie pie while we were hanging out there chatting, so I indulged her in her lust for this fabric. Because otherwise thermal is an odd choice in 90+ degree weather with tropical humidity in Virginia summertime.

The little butt section is laguna cotton jersey with a bit of lycra, which I thought would be good for a part that needed some stretch recovery.

Violet thinks they're awesome. So awesome that she's disappointed there isn't a shirt to go with it.

That's not why she's half naked though. She just lives that way in general. She's pretty tiny so I did the 18-24 month size, and could have gone even smaller for a more legging-like fit.

Even though they were meant to be pajama bottoms, she chose to wear them out all day, and tonight to a swanky restaurant.

We packed up the fam and ate out because today is our 8 year wedding anniversary. It's kind of crazy to think it's really been that long. I was 19 when we got married, so almost my entire adult life has been spent enjoying being married to, and friends with, my husband. We like each other. Still. Lots.

  4. LOVE that zebra fabric. Funny, I was admiring a zebra print toddler dress at Target today. AND I made fancy pants leggings for my first day of KCW, too. AND I'm pregnant, too. AND I got married at age 19, too!

    Happy Anniversary!

Also, I'm kind of freaked out by all the similarities going on between you and I. ;)

  5. Happy anniversary! My daughter would flip over the zebra print on those pants....but it never gets cold enough here to need anything thermal. Maybe I could stamp a similar print!
