So, as I was making Easter dresses totally last minute I had my head down and just needed to get it done. By the time I had finished Violet's dress I realized it didn't look like I had envisioned it at the beginning. The colors together made them look differently than they did separately. And I got frustrated and impulsive and took it apart. Violet had no Easter dress....but she does now!
Somehow, she is just fine with calling this her Easter dress, despite it being sorta late.
This is what I started with at the beginning. The teal shot cotton just screamed "polka dots! I need polka dots!" at me, so I grabbed some cheap dots at Joanns and made us all much happier.
Now that I've made one franken-dress with used parts from the old one, I'm planning on just making a bodice out of the Heather Ross and making another dress all in that fabric.
Violet was pretty impressed with her new threads.
I like it. I like it a lot! Oh, and it totally matches my blog. Weird!
Pattern is the Geranium dress by Rae. Fabrics are shot cotton in teal and cotton polka dots from Joann.

It's adorable!!! I actually liked it better BEFORE, somehow the colors flowed well to me, BUT... this one is brighter and happier and less hipster... maybe Redeemer Arlington is doing bad things to me ;-)(I am surrounded by hipsters :))You are SO wicked talented!! I have designs I want you to make for ME! Not little girls... ;-)
ReplyDeleteOmigosh what did you do to get Violet cracking up so hard?! These photos are melting my heart. Love this Geranium. And actually that polka dot from Joann is one of my favorite fabrics - I'd probably list it up there with Yarn Dyed Black and Kona Olive. ;)
ReplyDeleteThese pictures of your daughter are just adorable!:) And love the dress! Loving the shot cotton, esp. in the great teal color. Will look forward to seeing the end result of next dress:)
ReplyDeleteLove the dress, and the photos are fantastic!
