Oliver + S Sailboat skirts

It was time for some new skirts for the girls. They both got one, but you will have to pretend that Violet is modeling hers too... Her naptime seemed like the perfect opportunity for taking pictures. I used the sailboat pattern from Oliver + S (again. I'm getting my money's worth out of that purchase!) 

 

 

Back in early August I went to a bloggy friend meetup in Maryland. It was a fun adventure! Rachael from Imagine Gnats works at a fabric store called Sewn Studio, and they were having a big huge sale right before our meetup, so she was kind enough to spend time over the phone taking orders for fabrics to bring to our gathering (pictures of which can be viewed here). 

This wavy print is one of the fabrics I got from her. It's an organic cotton fom Daisy Jane and called Geo Grand. The kids say it's got rainbows on it. I faux piped the flap on the skirt as an afterthought, both because I thought it would look cute, and to tell the difference between the girls' skirts. Violets doesn't have it. 

The lining is leftovers from when I made the baby bunting blanket for my neighbor. (Um, yeah, I could have SWORN they told me it was another girl. So now their unborn boy can look forward to a very girly blanket. S#it!)

Buttons are from my Mother's day vintage stash.

Next up is a croquet dress from Oliver + S

 

I've got it cut out and partly sewn together in another print I got from Rachael (AMH voile *drool*)

And in the conceptual/waiting for fabric to come stage are some dress up items for the kids. I would call them Halloween costumes, but my intention is to make things they can use over and over again for dress up. Plus, I'm not really wild about "doing" Halloween with them. Not because I think they will be possessed by satan if they go trick or treating... I'm just not into them eating a bunch of candy. lol. 

I've been obsessing over what to make for them. What they would like. What I would like to make. What will be used often for play. Taking their personalities into consideration, I finally made a plan...
