reign of destruction

we have begun tearing our kitchen apart in preparation for laying down hardwood flooring. when I say we, I mean my husband has been doing the heavy lifting while I tend the flock. not to say that it has been easy keeping the girls on the opposite side of the fence from their daddy while he works

here is a little timeline of the action so far....

 there is the first piece of linoleum ripped up in the corner

this is the state of our floor. duct taped down. 

 

I thought I should get one of those before shots where things are at their maximum messiness, so that it looks even better when we're done. 

 

after the linoleum came up, the top layer of plywood also had to go.

 

most of the top layer of plywood is gone now. 

 

ha, I realized I could see myself in the fridge

 

apparently the "rustic" grade maple comes with a LOT of short pieces. like, really short. so it will take some creative laying of the floor to make the pieces staggered. but the wood itself is gorgeous. love it. love this guy too.
