valentine bunting

my neighbor is going to be alone this Valentines day because her husband got sent away for 3 months to work in Afghanistan. she has a 5 year old and a 1 year old, and I can't imagine being left behind for that long with two small kids. so, my heart goes out to her

I told her I would be her Valentine this year, and got her a box of chocolates from Trader Joe's. Dark chocolate hearts with truffle filling? It should help to deaden the pain a bit, right? And while TJ did a pretty great job of making the box cute, I wanted to dress it up. 

So I made this little bunting out of some twine, felt, and origami paper. I'm kind of obsessed with bunting right now. and pinwheels...

anyway, I cut diamonds out of felt and folded them over the twine, stitching at the top to encase the twine. then I cut letters out of origami paper and sewed them on. tied the twine around the box, taped to secure. it makes me happy to look at it. can I cover my house in various kinds of bunting??
