fresh tees

I finally got around to making Clover some new long sleeved tees for layering/chilly weather wear. out of laziness I checked the thrift store for things that would work, but there wasn't much, so I made a couple this week. the purple polka dot one is made from some thrifted rayon pajama pants in XXL. so lots of fabric. the material feels like two tank tops I snagged from clearance in Old Navy recently. I pretty much wear them under everything now because they are so comfortable, so as soon as I felt the fabric in the pants I thought Clover would be really comfy in a shirt made out of them.

the applique is made from an abandoned daddy shirt that also supplied the material for the applique and cuffs on the next shirt

Clover likes to shove things into the camera, so here is her exposed seam cuff in all its glory

for this one I fidgeted with the pattern and made the front piece extra wide so I could gather the neckline and make the bottom a bit flowy.  the applique was inspired by Portlandia's "put a bird on it" sketch. lol. I was standing there staring at my fabric trying to see what I would cut from it, and then the phrase "put a bird on it!" popped into my head. and if you haven't seen Portlandia, but you love the NW, I recommend it. hilarious.
