banyan shirt

I've had this organic slub knit laying around for what feels like ages because even before my  Figgy's Banyan pattern arrived I knew I wanted to use it to make a t-shirt. I finally managed to get my pattern traced (such a drag) and made a shirt to go with my sailboat shorts. Today I will have a guest post up at small+friendly with a pattern review/remix of the sailboat pants from Oliver + S

my Banyan shirt came together easily, and even though my skinny little girl doesn't exactly fill it out yet, the shape is really nice. I like the collar a lot. And just for something extra I stenciled a pink and blue triangle on there. Triangles speak to me lately.

Aside from getting this outfit done I've been busy trying to get something done for my husband. Our 7 year anniversary is coming up on Monday and I was stupid and started a project for him at the last minute. I TOTALLY was not planning on making anything, but as I cruised etsy for neat gifts I ended up coming away with a....project. 7 years! Two kids. Lots of U2 shows. Kinda crazy.

    1. Agh! Thanks! I was nervous about writing something that a lot of people would see. Lol. Hubbies gift is nearly done. I have till he gets home from work tomorrow to finish so hopefully I can manage. I think it's going to be pretty cute.

    1. What is it about the triangles? When I color with the kids I like to draw triangles everywhere in different color combinations.

  3. Cute stuff. I like the idea of just using the measurements. I've got a teeny three year old (wouldn't be surprised if she was in baby sized waists like yours!)and I know she SWIMS in the patterns my mom has sewn for her (based on age). Makes me want to bite the bullet and finally buy one of the oliver + S patterns. :D

    1. You can't go wrong with Oliver and s! There are a couple of patterns that I would really love to try. Going by the measurements really does work better. Ive had enough things come out way too big that I finally learned my lesson. The banyan shorts I sewed for clover also fit perfectly when I made her a baby sized waist and 3t length. When I have bought her pants in the past it's been the same way. Either I get an adjustable waist with loooots of elastic or they don't stay up!
