Violet raglan from Tim shirt

Tim gifted me some of his old t-shirts. this was thrown together with scraps from an ancient Gap undershirt, some curly little strips of my bamboo knit, and a corner from the Sarah Jane balloons fabric. it's another one of the raw edged raglans I have been making from the Figgys tee for two pattern. I ended up using the hem from the bottom of the shirt at the bottom of the raglan body and sleeves. there were some funky little folds worked permanently into the fabric, but whatever. haven't tried it on Violet yet, but I'm hoping I didn't repeat the mistake that resulted in me retrofitting some snaps into her last shirt.

he also gave me a big pile of old musty previously white undershirts that will probably end up being dyed.

vacation photos

welcome to Oregon!!! Clover decided to stay up for the WHOLE flight until descent, and then managed to stay konked out in her chair while Tim carried her off the plane in it. this is our first picture of vacation, outside of security.

I'm just putting a sampling of all the many maaaaany pictures we took  in Oregon

Grandma Sue Sue took the girls out to gather veggies from the garden

Oregon was good for Violet's wild hair

this is where I took a vacation within a vacation. g'ma and pops watched the midgets while I shopped

this is how Clover felt about leaving the playground...and also how mama felt about leaving Bolt.

sexy daddy

soaking in the great outdoors

gorgeous baby alert!!

some babes in front of Multnomah falls

for some reason Clover was sad almost the whole time we were at the falls

Tim is hot.

even Clover knows that McMenamins is a place of joy

silly coloring with gramps

one of several trips to the beach

Clover knew she was in trouble for running away from us when we told her it was time to leave.

there were tons of birds down the beach from us, and I was hoping to get a good picture of them taking off

this picture is just epic to me. daddy taking the baby down the slide while still holding his coffee

for some reason this just makes me laugh

hmmm....chocolate stout or dead guy ale?

clover likes blackberries

we parked down the beach from and then walked to the kite festival

grandma Cinda baby love

updated sailboat pants

rumple butt or not, Clover looks a-fricking-dorable in her sailboat pants. those balloons kill me.

oliver + s sailboat pants

this project is a mixed bag for me....

first off, I love the look of these little pants. I've been dying to make them for a while now and just adore the front.
but.....everyone's always got a big "but"

that's the catch. the back rise of these little guys seem to be extra short and don't fit Clover properly. that, combined with her excessive skinniness, which forces me to maker her pants elastic extra short and savagely gathering her waistband, has made them look kind of....wrong in the back. I'm going to wash them to sort of break them in a little and then try again.

the upside is that instead of using some of my Bolt fabric to make the bulk of the pants, I actually harvested some nice Gap trousers from the thrift store and used the fabric. it has a very nice, sturdy feel to it - almost like denim. it is charcoal gray with pinstripes. the balloon contrast fabric IS some precious Bolt stuff though. my initial trepidation was because I altered the pattern from being cropped summer pants to full length (ok, maybe TOO much length now o_0 ) winter pants. and I didn't want to mess up any of the good stuff if I was going to go experimenting
we will sit on this one for a while and see how I feel after they have been washed and worn a bit. it's been a rough week here.....it may not all be as bad as I think it is. and if I could get Clover to cooperate with me for two seconds so I could inspect the fit and take a picture, maybe I would ask for second opinions. until then I will be accepting polite and upbeat, if ill informed, comments. lol. sigh.

oh, and I did manage to figure out how to wrangle buttonholes from my Pfaff. I was nervous about that because I have no manual for the thing, no feet besides the zig zag foot, and only part of a working brain. they are by no means "pretty", but they will work.
